What happened after graduation?

My classmates may recall when the Department of Justice visited our school in an effort to entice us to join them in employment. Well, I did it. I worked for them from July 1958 to October 1960, leaving three months prior to the birth of my first child. Later, I went to work for an oil company (taking long breaks to have two other children). I was the administrative associate to two presidents of BHP Petroleum (not BP), an Australian company. When I left BHP, I worked for the President/CEO of Huthnance International (a drilling rig company), followed by eight years as office manager for Diamond Geophysical Service Corporation - all in downtown Houston and Galleria area. I left the work force in December, 2001. As you often hear, "How did we have time to work"! Ha!

After my first marriage ended in about 1990, I really had no idea if I would re-marry; however, I met Alan Cain in early 1994. We were married in August, 1994. Alan has two children and three grand-children. Alan worked for Continental Airlines inLos Angeles,Denver andHouston for 41 years. He retired in 2000 and loves it.

Children and grandchildren

I have three wonderful (of course) children (one daughter and two sons) and two precious granddaughters. With the addition of Alan's family, we have a full house at times.

I never thought I would…

Be on the 1958 Aldine Class Reunion Committee!

Rewarding events since 1958
Having my children is at the top on this. I have had many rewarding moments in my career, but I often wish I had been a stay-at-home mom.

What I would do differently
I have regrets, but would I do anything differently? I would hope so, but I just don't know.....

Special interests or hobbies
I have always enjoyed decorating. I make rag quilts for friends and relatives from time to time. I enjoy traveling. Alan and I are members ofSpring Baptist Church and enjoy it.

Favorite vacation spot

That's a tough one. In the last four years, we have been to all of the states except two.Australia andNew Zealand were very special in 2002. I loveLondon andHawaii. Then there isBanff and Lake Louise--the entire area is amazing. The coast ofMaine keeps drawing me back. There is a lot to be said for Yellowstone and the Tetons!

Additional thoughts and comments

You know, I'm just hoping that we get a wonderful turnout for the 50th Class Reunion. I don't think anyone is ever sorry that they attended--it's such a fun time. I still need more members on the Planning Committee.

I encourage everyone to complete the bio form on the website.  It is so easy to do, and who doesn't want to know what their classmates have been doing this past 50 years!
