What happened after graduation?

I did not graduate with yall but I did get out the following year.  I missed my graduation because they closed the school down for a couple of weeks, I am sure yall remember that, and I had my orders cut for leaving for the Navy.  I did come back on leave and got to take my final exam in the principal's office and passed, thank God.

 

I reported back to the Navy and they sent me to a rock in the Pacific Ocean called Pearl Harbor Hawaii.  Was on a ship there for about 2 1/2 years.  During that time I was all over the Pacific and the South China Sea.  I spent the remainder of my tour on a ship in Sasebo Japan.  Saw all of that area of the world.  Got out in 1964.  Worked several odd jobs until 1971 and joined the Houston Police Dept. and stayed there until 2001 and retired.

 

Upon retirement we bought a truck and RV and we travel around going where we want and coming back when we want to.

 

Children and grandchildren

I married a north side girl that lived not too far from me but did not meet her until 1984. 

2 boys and 1 granddaughter

 

I never thought I would…

See as much as I have seen and done as much as I did.  I was never really good in school.  I barely squeaked by and would not consider myself very book smart but I made it.

 

Rewarding events since 1958

Too many to mention.

 

What I would do differently

I might have stayed in the Navy a few more years and would have joined the HPD earlier.

 

Special interests or hobbies

Have done some SCUBA diving and I have a metal detector I use at times.

 

Favorite vacation spot

For diving, Grand Cayman, for RVing the east coast in the fall.
