A forum is generally defined as a public meeting or assembly for open discussion.  The Aldine1958 forum is an Internet forum--a web application for holding discussions and posting user generated content.  Internet forums are also commonly referred to as web forums, message boards, discussion boards, (electronic) discussion groups, discussion forums, bulletin boards, or simply forums.  The Aldine1958 forum is primarily for Aldine1958 graduates, but anyone can view the forum without registering and anyone can register and participate in the forum.
